Dear friends,

 

We are close to celebrating a new edition of Felipe de Lucas Cup and it's a real pleasure for me to speak to all the participants in this dearly and veteran cup that has converted, without a doubt, in one of the most important from those which are celebrated throughout the year in Alcalá de Henares.

 

It's gratifying to confirm how more than 1.500 young people live and enjoy these days practicing sports and I especially hope for those who are visiting us than they will be able to get to know and to enjoy of our city also.

 

Alcala is becoming an important reserve of promising young players that thankful to their daily efforts and also with the help of their technicians and trainers, along with the sacrifice of many parents, will be the protagonists of a society on which priority is given to the values that the practice of sports instills in those who practice it, such as: healthy competition, improvement and team spirit and solidarity.

 

As a result it is essential that adults continue to encourage our children to practice sports, and for those of us who have the luck to be in a Society as is Alcalá, that brings many opportunities as this cup, we are half way done.

 

Last year we provided new artificial turf football grounds for the Club Deportivo Avance, throughout this new season other ones will be provided to other different Alcala Clubs, and we can say that Alcala is one of the cities within Madrid Community that is making more efforts to renew and to invest in sports equipment, and we will continue doing so during the rest of the legislature.

 

I wish to all a happy development of this cup and I hope than the Alcala teams will get better results.
